About us
Professors Sven Silburn and Stephen Zubrick, nationally recognised leaders in the field of psychosocial research, have founded the Centre to support child development.
The Centre marks an important collaboration between the Telethon Institute for Child Health Research and Curtin University of Technology.
Our multidisciplinary, collaborative approach brings national and international researchers to work together.
The Centre's unique grouping of researchers work across a diverse range of fields in child development but are all committed to the same thing: helping young people to develop, and to be all that they can be.
Because of the complexity of the issues, we place a high priority on building research partnerships that bridge traditional discipline boundaries.
This is why the Centre for Developmental Health has been created.
Aims
- To conduct high quality, nationally and internationally recognised research in fields related to developmental health
- To apply research findings to guide healthy public policy across sectors to improve the health of children, adolescents and families
- To train the next generation of researchers
- To advocate for research and for children's health and wellbeing
Strategies
The centre will achieve these aims by:
- Coordinating and enhancing multidisciplinary research and policy and planning advice in the field of developmental health.
- Developing national and international links in relevant academic and policy areas of developmental health.
- Developing links with agencies and facilities impacting developmental health in Western Australia, Australia and internationally.
- Assisting staff in related areas to increase their research activity in support of the developmental health and well being agenda.
